The Regulatory Burden

OSHA, EPA & DOT regulations are complex.
Do you know the effect of the new regulations?

In a world of increasing complexity, the challenges posed by regulatory agencies and ever-changing rules are significant. OSHA, EPA and DOT regulations on Federal, state and local levels are complex and confusing. The regulations are often interwoven and cross reference rules in other agencies. Here are just some of the most frequently encountered regulations. The list not exhaustive nor are state requirements delineated:

  • Compliance Guide. Regulations for Waste Management, Employee Safety and HazMat Transport.
  • Regulatory Obligations for Hazardous Waste Generators. Only a partial list of the requirements.
  • OSHA Training Requirements. List of OSHA required training with training intervals
  • EE Generator Summary. All regulatory references are to 40 CFR rules for hazardous waste management.

Can you respond effectively to hazardous waste spills?

EHS managers are doing the best they can in trying to interpret regulations, but the language can be difficult, and cross referencing of regulations can be confusing. Compliance is the best defense against violations and fines, and can also reduce your operational costs. The most frequently sighted OSHA violations are related to poor or non-existent health and safety programs. Our clients tell us of a nagging worry about unidentified and hence unknown risks incidents that can potentially be catastrophic. This is only a partial list:

  • Business Process Failures
  • Significant Fines
  • Economic Loss
  • Fires and Floods
  • Hazardous Waste Spills
  • Costly Lawsuits
  • Negative Press
  • Employee Injury
  • Loss of Life
  • Damage to the Community
  • Harm to the Environment
  • Business Shutdown
